A different kind of model.

Set in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, this short documentary explores the Mara Naboisho Conservancy and its role in reshaping how conservation and tourism work together. It traces the evolution of responsible tourism in Kenya, accelerated by the Wildlife Act of 2013, and shows how Naboisho emerged as a practical, community-led alternative to more traditional conservation models.

Keeping land in local hands.

Instead of selling land to foreign investors, local Maasai families lease it directly to the conservancy. This approach keeps land ownership in local hands while creating long-term, sustainable income for communities. The result is a system where wildlife protection, livelihoods and tourism are not competing interests, but interconnected ones.

People, planet, profit.

The film looks at conservation through a wider lens, one that recognises people as central to the story. By balancing environmental protection with economic sustainability and community empowerment, Naboisho demonstrates that conservation works best when those who have lived closest to the land for generations share in its future.
