100 Million Displaced Worldwide.

Vulnerability to modern slavery and human trafficking has risen sharply in recent years. The combined pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, new and ongoing conflicts, and the accelerating effects of climate change have pushed more people into situations where exploitation becomes real risk. With more than 100 million people forcibly displaced worldwide, the number of individuals vulnerable to forced labour and trafficking continues to grow. Every region is affected, whether as a place of origin, transit or destination.

In June 2024, Plus Four Studios documented the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking’s first visit to Nairobi, Kenya. The Commission, launched under the leadership of former UK Prime Minister Theresa May, aims to restore political momentum in the global effort to eradicate forced labour and human trafficking. The Nairobi visit marked a critical moment for governments, NGOs and community leaders to come together and confront the rising scale of vulnerability.

The event focused on strengthening collaboration and improving prevention, protection and enforcement. It also created space for affected communities and frontline organisations to share lived experiences and practical solutions. These discussions were central to the Commission’s mission to mobilise resources, influence policy and drive renewed global action.

Our role was to capture this milestone visit, providing the Commission with photography and video content of the conversations, testimonies and partnerships that emerged over the course of the event.
