Made in Benin.

This short documentary-style film explores the sustainable transformation of Benin’s cotton sector. Despite being one of the world’s largest exporters of unprocessed cotton, Benin’s capacity to transform cotton into valuable finished products has been hamstrung by a lack of infrastructure and machinery.

A turning point came in 2020 with the inception of the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ), a collaborative partnership between ARISE IIP and the government of Benin to empower businesses to extract greater value from local agricultural commodities by offering an integrated ecosystem for entire value chains.

Kabirath's Story.

The film spotlights Kabirath, a Quality Supervisor at the Garment Training Centre. Her journey, from a university graduate struggling to find employment to a management role, embodies the project’s impact on the economy and its provision of opportunities for Benin’s youth.
